2. What personal information do we collect from you? How do we use it?

Personal Information is information about an identifiable individual and includes your name, home address, telephone number and email address.  It does not include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.  It also does not apply to information that is publicly available.  At various times throughout our website or in other interactions with us you may be asked to voluntarily provide us with your Personal Information if you wish to obtain information or services from us.  Types of personal information that we may collect include:

  • Your name and contact information, including your physical address, email address and telephone number

  • Information related to your reservation

  • Participation in our membership and loyalty programs

  • Personal characteristics including date of birth, gender, nationality, passport date and place of issue

  • Preferred communication method

  • Business name, title and address

  • Method of payment, including credit card details and your three or four digit CVV code

  • Your reviews and opinions of our brand and property

  • Groups with which you are associated for stays at our hotel

  • If you chose to apply online for employment with us, you will have the opportunity to send your resume electronically. The information which is provided to use during the application process may be retained by us for the purpose of considering your application for employment, as well as for more general management and research purposes. Treatment of the Personal Information of our employees is governed by separate policy documents.

Additionally, local laws require that we collect certain information on check in.  It is a violation of the Tourist Accommodation Act S.N.S 1994-95 C. 9 s. 14 to provide a false name or address on check in.

2.1 How do we use this information?

We use your personal information to provide the services you have requested from us.  These services may include but are not limited to processing your reservations and membership in rewards programs.  In addition we will use this information to:

  • Improve the services we provide to you

  • Provide you with the expected level of hospitality

  • Ensure our site, products and services are of interest to you

  • To provide or offer you newsletters, promotions or special features

  • To conduct surveys, sweepstakes, prize draws and other contests.

2.2 What information do we collect and use from your computer?

We do not collect any Personal Information from users who merely access or browse our website.  However, the following information about our users’ computers, web browsers, and internet service providers is automatically collected and stored when a user accesses or browses our website:

  • The Internet Protocol address (IP) of your computer, which is a number automatically assigned to your computer by your own Internet Service Provider (ISP)

  • The IP address of your ISP

  • Your browser and platform type

  • The date and time you accessed our site

  • The sections of the website you visited as well as the pages read and images viewed

  • The content that you downloaded from the website.

It is our policy not to link this information to any information that could identify you.  We use this information to help diagnose problems with our server and for systems administration purposes.  Your IP address may be used in an aggregate manner to gather broad demographic information, so that we may improve the site to better suit users’ needs.  It is our policy not to link IP addresses to the identity of users visiting our site.

Our site may use “cookies” or other technologies to help us deliver the best service, including processing your reservation requests or analyzing your visiting patterns.  If you want to remove or disable cookies at any time, you can do so by updating your browser settings.

3. Right to access Personal Information

You have the right to access all Personal Information that we have collected from you and that we retain on file, and you may choose to update, modify or delete this information at any time by contacting our privacy manager.  There is no fee for accessing your information. However, our choice to delete information may impact our ability to continue to provide services to you.

We retain your personal information only as long as is required for the reason it was collected, or such longer period if proscribed by law.  This depends on the nature of the services we are providing to you or the nature of the request you have made.  For example, we retain employee information for the duration of employment and a period of 6 years from the end of the year in which employment ceased.  We do not retain credit card information following the completion of a transaction with you.

4. Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell, trade, rent, share or give away any of your Personal Information to third parties for marketing purposes.  Nor do we disclose your Personal Information to any third parties without your express consent, unless limited disclosure of your Personal Information is necessary to fulfill a services that you have requested from us. For example, we will disclose your Personal Information to the financial institution that processes your credit card information or payment transactions or to Wyndham Rewards for points allocation and redemption.

As part of a global brand, we may share your personal information with other members of the Wyndham Worldwide portfolio of brands.

We will disclose your Personal Information in the following manner and for the following purposes:

  • We will disclose Personal Information in accordance with our legal and regulatory obligations

  • In certain limited and discrete circumstances, we may be required to disclose your personal information without your consent, for example, if the disclosure is required to comply with an order made by a court of body with jurisdiction to compel the production of this information or for other purposes as permitted under applicable privacy legislation.

5. Our Security Measures

This website is equipped with standard security measures to ensure that your Personal Information is secure from loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.  Given the evolving nature of the internet, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will be sufficient to protect your Personal Information; however, we will maintain all safeguards that we deem reasonably necessary in order to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of your Personal Information.

Each employee is personally responsible for maintaining customer confidence in the company.  We provide training programs to educate employees about the meaning and requirements of this Privacy Policy.  Employees who violate this Privacy Policy are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination for cause.  Employees are required to report violations of this Privacy Policy.  Any employee receiving a complaint about our privacy practices is required to immediately bring this to the attention of the privacy manager.

For your own protection, we encourage you not to include any sensitive personal information in any e-mails you may send to us.  Please do not send credit card details or any other sensitive personal information to us by e-mail.

6. Policy Modifications

We may modify this Policy from time to time and at any time.  When we make material changes to this policy we will post a link with the revised policy on the homepage of our site.  You can tell when this policy was last updated by looking at the date at the bottom right had corner.  Any changes to this Policy will become effective on positing of the revised Policy on the site. Use of the site following such changes constituted your acceptance of the revised policy then in effect.
